LG just unveiled its newest phone interface and… it looks like Samsung One UI
LG has just unveiled its newest custom Android interface for smartphone: LG UX 9.0. It is cleaner, more refined, moves useful controls to the bottom part of the screen for easier reach, brings a dark mode that will turn backgrounds black and help ease the strain on your eyes if you use your phone at night, and overall seems like a change in the right direction.
LG itself presented the UX 9.0 update as the “latest software upgrade optimized for #LGG8XThinQ. From photo gallery to music play, experience the new interface.” The LG G8X is the company’s latest flagship and it comes with an optional accessory that gives it a second screen and the actual functionality of a foldable phone without the fragility of a real foldable screen.
Here is a short summary of the changes that LG has shown:
- Night Mode: available across the system, darkens backgrounds
- Phone dialer: controls brought to bottom for easier reach
- Messages app: bigger, easier to tap fields, grouped contacts
- Clock app: bolder accent colors, more refined clocks
- Gallery app: better organization, clearly defined sections
- Music app: new and cleaner look
This new custom interface seems to borrow quite a few ideas from LG arch-rival Samsung and its One UI, but admittedly, most companies these days are all moving in one general direction, so we would not take this as a big surprise.
LG has not yet shared any details about when this update is coming to devices, but we will update you on this as soon as the information becomes available.
