Summary

The Jabra Elite Active 75t is the company’s latest and greatest set of in-ear buds. They aim to provide a comfortable fit, extremely punchy sound, massive battery life, and ingress protection that keeps them safe during workout sessions.

And it manages to hit all of these marks with ease. In fact, they are perfect even if you don’t need them for the gym — if you are in the market for in-ear buds for everyday use, keep these on your radar.

Design and fit

The design here is pretty similar to other products we’ve seen in the recent past — an ergonomic body that’s shaped in a way that naturally fits in the ear concha and applies slight pressure so that the earbud stays in. Each of the Elite Active 75t buds has an actual hardware button on the outside, which I appreciated — it’s very easy to press and gives off very clicky feedback, eliminating the ambiguity of whether my input was successful or not (ahem, touch panels).The Jabra Elite Active 75t fit has been greatly catered to — Jabra says it scanned thousands of ears, looking for the perfect shape. You do have 3 bud sizes that come with the package, but these are not always the final solution — the outside body of the earbud also does a lot of the work when it comes to fit and feel. My ears are notoriously bad when it comes to keeping any sort of in-ear headphone in. However, I somehow managed to use the Elite Active 75t for prolonged periods.

I would get ear fatigue about 1 hour in and would need a rest about 2 hours in, but that’s still a lot better than usual. In fact, after 4 days of use, the Jabra Elite Active 75t is well on its way to converting me into an in-ear guy. I would imagine that users who use in-ears without issues will find the Elite Active 75t to be even more comfortable.

The charging case for the buds is compact and has an upright design, which is pretty useful in certain scenarios. Putting the earbuds in it is quite easy, since a pair of strong magnets pull them out of your fingers and snap them neatly into place. One gripe with the case is that it’s a very soft, matte plastic which can become hard to clean once it’s smudged up.

Sound and features

The signature Jabra sound I’ve grown used to is punchy and clear. And the Elite Active 75t’s sound does not stray away from that formula. The bass is rattling, yet tight and much less overwhelming than in previous models. Out of the box, they may sound a bit harsh, but you can quickly fine-tune their profile with a 5-band EQ found in the Jabra+ app for your phone.

The highs can get a bit tinny, but never ice-picky. The mids are rounded and very detailed — if you are into distorted guitar music, you will hear a lot of nuances in every riff.

The Jabra Elite Active 75t buds offer active noise cancellation and it does a pretty good job at silencing the outside world — they managed to keep me entertained even while vacuuming around the house. HearThrough mode is also impressive — it feeds outside noises into your listening experience with clarity and absolutely no lag. Though, you still do need to bring the volume down a bit if you hope to hear conversations or tamer noises in the environment.

The noise cancellation of the Jabra Elite Active 75t vs the Apple AirPods Pro is very much comparable — both do similarly well. Most outside sounds are muted or, at the very least, heavily muffled. Big, over-ear headphones like the Sony WH-1000XM3 still do provide much better noise cancellation which almost silences up to the loudest of noises, but that’s an entirely different type of product.

The buttons on the Elite Active 75t earbuds are not programmable (at the time of writing this), but you have all the basic controls you need. Single press, and dual press on the right bud will play media and call up your phone’s voice assistant, respectively. The same actions on the left bud will toggle HearThrough mode and skip to the next song. You control volume by holding on a button — left for volume down, right for volume up.

Battery life

The Elite Active 75t’s battery life is seriously impressive. Jabra officially claims up to 7.5 hours of earbud life and up to 28 collective hours when using the charging case to top them up. Also, the case itself supports fast charging, if you need to get some juice in it on the fly.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using the Jabra Elite Active 75t as my main set of earphones for the past 4 days and I haven’t had any need to end a session due to a drained battery. In fact, the charging case’s battery is still at 54%.

In other words, you can most probably go a full week with these before worrying about charging the case.
