Windows 10’s Latest Insider Build Introduces New Kaomoji

Posted October 29, 2019 | Windows | Windows 10 | Windows 10 20H1

Microsoft is today releasing a brand new build of Windows 10 20H1 to Insiders in the Fast Ring today. The company today announced build 19013, and it comes with a couple of new features.

The new build is fairly minor, and there isn’t much to be excited about, to be honest.

Build 19013 introduces new Kaomoji for the emoji picker in Windows 10. Microsoft is introducing a couple of new Kaomoji to the emoji picker with today’s update, but if you don’t like using regular emoji, this will probably sound pretty nonsensical to you. The build adds more than 7 new Kaomoji, for those interested.

There’s a nice new change in today’s build, though. For those using Windows Subsystem for Linux 2, you will now have more memory to work with on Windows. Microsoft has made it so the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) will now release unused memory from the Linux VM to Windows. Previously, when WSL’s memory grew to meet your needs, it wouldn’t automatically shrink the memory down when it was no longer needed. But with today’s update, the unused memory gets released back to Windows.

There are a couple of other changes in this build, and Microsoft’s also noted a couple of other changes that are not strictly connected to this build. That includes the removal of the need to have Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity to be able to use the Your Phone app, which should make the feature available to more users. You can find the full changelog for the build here.
