OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 1 is Now Available on OnePlus 9 Series
OnePlus announced that it has released the first open beta of the Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.
“Google just released Android 12, and we are excited to announce that OnePlus is among the first smartphone brands to officially bring the first Android 12 to its devices,” a new post to the OnePlus forums notes. “Today, we’re releasing our OxygenOS 12 Open Beta, based on Android 12, to the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. For those who want to fully understand what the new OxygenOS 12 is all about, check it out today and see for yourself.”
Some of the key updates in OxygenOS 12 include three levels of Dark mode, a Work Like Balance switch in Quick Settings, and newly optimized icons. Yeah, so not much. I assume that Android 12’s core features, like Material You, are in there, but I will test this release on a OnePlus 9 Pro to be sure. (OnePlus previously tested various Developer Preview and Closed Beta releases, so it’s possible.)
To test this beta, you need to download a ROM file on your PC, copy it to the phone’s storage, navigate to the appropriate place in Settings (on the phone), and perform a local upgrade. The full instructions are in the original post.
If this is worth discussing further, I’ll provide an update after I’ve taken a look.
