Microsoft: 40 Million People Are Now Using Skype Daily
Microsoft quietly revealed some new numbers for Skype usage today. The company shared some new milestones for Skype along with the launch of its new consumer-focused version of Teams.
Microsoft says Skype has seen “significant increases” in Skype usage recently. The announcement comes just a day after Microsoft announced an incredible 775% increase in its cloud usage.
Today, Microsoft announced that Skype is being used by 40 million people daily. The number of people using Skype daily has seen a 70% increase since last month. Microsoft has also experienced a 220% increased in Skype-to-Skype calling minutes in the last month.
“Staying connected with our loved ones has never been more important than it is right now. We’re pleased to offer tools like Skype to help people to stay in touch with family and friends through chat and video calling. Recently, we have seen significant increases in Skype usage,” said Microsoft.
Microsoft announced recently that its Teams service had 44 million daily active users.
With apps like WhatsApp and FaceTime becoming more popular in recent times, it seems like Skype is still incredibly popular, at least according to Microsoft. With more people continuing to stay home due to the coronavirus outbreak, it’s likely the number of people using services like Skype and Microsoft Teams is only going to increase.
