Lenovo Unveils Its Thinnest ThinkPad Workstation

Posted August 13, 2018 | Hardware | Lenovo | ThiinkPad | ThinkPad P1 | Windows

Lenovo is launching two new products for its ThinkPad line today. The firm is unveiling the new ThinkPad P1, as well as an upgrade to last year’s P71: the P72.

The ThinkPad P1 is the highlight here. It’s Lenovo’s “thinnest, lightest and sleekest” mobile workstation ever, coming in a package that’s just 0.7 inches thick. The device weighs around 1.7kgs (that’s 3.76lbs), which is pretty impressive considering all the power you are getting. Talking about power, the P1 comes with an Intel 8th gen Core i9 or Xeon processor, the Nvidia Quadro P2000 GPU, up to 64GB of DDR4RAM, and up to 4TB NVMe SSD for storage. The 15.6-inch display of the device itself is available in two variants: you can get a 4K variant, or settle for a cheaper Full HD variant.

Starting at $1,949, the P1 is an obvious option for those looking for a mobile workstation that’s not too bulky. Most of Lenovo’s ThinkPad devices are incredibly bulky because of all the power they pack, so the P1 offers an option for those who are willing to settle with less power for increased mobility.

And if you are looking for a ton of power, you can get the new P72. It comes with Intel’s hexacore Intel Core or Xeon processors, the Nvidia Quadro P5200 GPU, up to 128GB of RAM, up to 6TB of storage, a 17.3-inch display with a 4K option, and weighs around the same as 2 ThinkPad P1s, coming in at 3.4kgs (7.5lbs). Lenovo’s ThinkPad P72 will be available starting at $1,799.
