The rapid deployment of the Fall Creators Update continued this past month, with the release now successfully installed on 74.3 percent of all Windows 10 PCs.

This data, as always, comes from AdDuplex, the largest cross-promotion network for Windows apps. AdDuplex empowers developers and publishers to promote their apps for free by helping each other. This month, the firm again looks at Fall Creators Update deployment.

“Fall Creators Update is growing rapidly and you can see the difference in ascend speed compared to the Creators Update,” the AdDuplex report notes. “Another important factor to note is the decrease of the market share of Anniversary Update [AU]. It went from 10.5 percent last month to 6.6 percent in January. This is good news since we contemplated previously that 10+ percent of PCs may be stuck on AU and never upgrade. This is clearly not the case.”

To give you an idea of how fast this deploy rate is, the Creators Update—which was released in April 2017—required five months to hit this level of usage. The Fall Creators Update, released in October, has needed just three months.

And yes, the deployment of this release has been rapid. The Fall Creators Update hit 5 percent of all Windows 10 PCs within one week, was at 20 percent after just one month, and sailed past 50 percent after two months.

A few other interesting notes:

Some PC makers have surpassed Surface with FCU deployment. The Fall Creators Update is now deployed on a bigger percentage of PCs from Dell, ASUS, Acer, Toshiba, MSI, and Medion than Surface. Only HP, Lenovo, and Samsung lag behind Surface now.

Surface Book owners have upgraded most among Surface users. About 84 percent of Surface Book and Surface Book 2 PCs have already upgraded to the Fall Creators Update, followed by 83.6 percent of Surface Pro 4s. Ignoring the very oldest Surface PCs (Pro 1 and 2, and Surface 3), Surface Laptop (61 percent) and Surface Pro 3 (60 percent) are delivering the lowest upgrade rates among Surface devices.
